Frequently Asked Questions

If your question is not answered here, please call us and we will be happy to help.

Q : How do you clean my drive or patio?

We survey the site, and decide what needs to be done to get the best results. We use a professional, industrial type cleaner that uses water and a rotary cleaning action to remove the vast majority of dirt, grime, stains, algae, slime and weeds safely and without any harsh chemicals. If stubborn areas remain that require additional treatment we can attend to those individually.

Q : How does your technique differ from jet washing?

Our professional rotary cleaning system is superior to DIY lance type power washers. Our rotary cleaner is designed specifically for horizontal surfaces, and covers a greater area more evenly with each pass. The water jet in our system is carefully angled to ensure maximum cleaning with minimal threat to jointing or the paving material itself. The protective hood also prevents splashing and distribution of dirt and grime into surrounding areas. Lance type power washers - if used incorrectly - can leave a streaky finish, damage to the joints, damage some paving materials like natural stone and slate, and create mess in the surrounding areas. A good quality high-powered DIY power washer can also cost as much or more than our typical cleaning service!

Q : Will the process harm my driveway or patio?

No, quite the reverse! A build of of dirt, moss and grime - apart from looking unsightly - is what can damage your drive or patio. It can stain the brickwork, and it can prevent essential drainage by attracting and retaining moisture and blocking drainage channels. In winter this build up can freeze and expand with the potential for more damage. Our cleaning process is perfectly safe, and highly beneficial.

Q : How much does it cost to clean a drive or patio?

Every driveway, patio or path is different, so we cannot give you a price without seeing it first. It will depend on the size of the area to be cleaned, the materials used for the hard landscaping, and the amount of and type of dirt to be removed. Our quotations are free and offered without obligation, so please call us and we will be pleased to arrange a free quotation for you.

Q : How long does the cleaning process take?

It depends entirely on the size of the area to be cleaned, and the amount of dirt to be removed. We can give you an accurate estimate of the time needed when we visit you to give you your free estimate. Generally speaking, an average driveway might take 2 to 3 hours, and a patio 1 to 2 hours.

Q : Do we need to supply electricity and water?

We do not need to use your electricity, but we do need a suitable cold water supply (an outside tap is ideal, but we can use a standard internal tap if you don't have an outside tap).

Q : Is my drive, patio or path suitable for cleaning?

If it is made with breakweave, concrete slabs, natural stone, slate or any of the typical decorative paving blocks (for example alpha setts, omega setts or cobble setts) then it is usually suitable. We no not clean tarmac or shingle/gravel areas. We will of course check the site for you and advise you of any potential issues before we start.

Q : How often do you recommend repeat cleaning?

You can ask us to come back and repeat clean your drive, patio of path whenever you feel it needs it. Many of our customers arrange a cleaning every year or every two years. Regular cleaning will certainly help to prevent any build up of unsightly and potentially damaging dirt, grime, moss and algae, so an annual clean is ideal to keep your drive, patio or path looking good.

Q : Do you undertake re-sanding or repairs?

If the area being cleaned would benefit from re-sanding (putting fresh clean sand between the joints) we can do this for you. We offer this as an additional optional service. We do not undertake repairs (for example resetting loose pavers, cementing or pot hole repairs).

Q : What areas of Norfolk do you cover?

Our driveway and patio cleaning service is available to commercial and domestic property owners in Norwich, all the surrounding suburbs (for example Old Catton, Sprowston, Thorpe, Hellesdon, Eaton, Cringleford and Costessey) and all the surrounding villages (for example Taverham, Drayton, Thorpe Marriott, Spixworth, Rackheath, Thorpe End, Wroxham, Acle, Blofield, Brundall, Hethersett and Wymondham. If you live further than 15 miles from Norwich, we may still be able to help you depending upon the value of your order.
